Position Title: Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Accountability

Job Description:

This is a cabinet level administrative position involving leading, facilitating, planning, developing staff initiatives, and supervising the teaching, learning and curriculum programs for the school district in such a way as to maximize the educational opportunities and benefits available to each individual child through the development, implementation and evaluation of the district’s educational and social emotional learning programs.

General Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide the development, revision, and implementation of K-12 curriculum and instructional programs in subject areas.
  • Guide the alignment of the district curriculum with state and national standards including alignment of resources, assessments, and teaching strategies.
  • Guide school leaders in the development of school curriculum, facilitate collaboration among schools, and supervise all curriculum work.
  • Provide school leaders with tools, support, and training needs to refine and articulate the overall instructional program and strategies for schools.
  • Develop, oversee, and evaluate the effectiveness of the district’s professional development program.
  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers to strengthen adult learning systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate instructional programs and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes.
  • Facilitate ongoing training focused on instruction, social emotional learning, and pedagogy
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of curriculum.
  • Oversee implementation of SEL, Code of Conduct, ensuring district alignment.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and assessment of the educational programs.
  • Provide professional learning that strengthens capacity to foster safe, supportive environments.
  • Establish an appropriate framework for curriculum documents, procedures and criteria for the curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Work closely with the staff to integrate SEL into academic and behavioral support.
  • Coordinate and supervise curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Develop and implement a professional development plan for teachers, staff, and administrators.
  • Communicate instructional priorities clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
  • Foster productive partnerships within the school community.
  • Provide overall leadership and supervision of the district’s progress and performance measurement systems, that include instructional programs and report of student performance.

Accountability:

  • Develop and implement educational metrics to track and evaluate progress and monitor the collection and analysis of data to improve the instructional programs.
  • Develop and refine tools for appropriate assessment of students, schools, and organizational performance; monitor the collection and analysis of data to improve instructional programs and oversee the interpretation of assessment and other data to staff and monitor results of student learning.
  • Coordinate the reporting of student performance, including, but not limited to progress reports, report cards, standardized test results, and other accomplishments.
  • Supervise the development of goals, preparation of school improvement plans, and the implementation of the assessment program.
  • Analyze assessment data for national, state and district assessment programs.
  • Oversee federal, state, and local accountability requirements.
  • Terms of Employment:

    The position of Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services is a twelve-month position. Salary and fringe benefits are established by the Board of Education.

    Evaluation:

    Performance in this position will be evaluated at least annually by the Superintendent of Schools.

Job Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with a strong background in educational administration and supervision.
  • NYS certification as SDA, SDL, SBA or SDBL.
  • Have a minimum of five years of successful building and/or district level administrative experience.
  • Possesses exemplary interpersonal skills and works effectively with staff at all levels of the organization and the school community.
  • Excellent communication, analysis, technology, and problem-solving skills.
  • Can apply the district’s vision and mission to personnel administration.
  • Possess a leadership style that fosters collaboration.
  • Demonstrates ethical and moral leadership.
  • Hold high and clear expectations for students, staff, and self.
